The last three times Holy Family CYO eighth grade girls played St. Rose, the outcome was decided by two points. This time, it appeared things would be different as Holy Family raced to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter.

Valerie Ahrens (6 points) and Erin Breen (8 points) each scored four points in the opening stanza. However, during the second and third quarters, St. Rose outscored Holy Family (20-10) to take a two-point lead heading into the final quarter. The lead seesawed back and forth in the fourth until Jennifer Osorio's late game heroics.

With St. Rose leading by one and under 90 seconds remaining in the game, Jennifer intercepted a St. Rose inbound pass, drove hard to the basket and score the bucket that gave Holy Family the lead for good, as Holy Family edged St. Rose 33-30.

Courtney Breen scored 9 of her game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter and came up with 2 huge steals in the last two minutes. She also calmly sank two free throws in the waning seconds to ice the victory. Nicole Robison, Kristen Burgos, Jackie Vitanza and Loree Bailey did an outstanding job on the backboards against their opponents. Katie Leo, with 2 points, and Nicole DeGennaro were superb defensively, holding St. Rose's high-scoring point guard to just 2 points.
