Nelda Iris Myers, of Hicksville, died on Sept. 20, 2003 in her 70th year. Wife of William L. Mother of Bill (Frances), Kenneth and Brian (Teresa). Grandmother of Samantha, Peter and Annalee. John J. Brady, of Hicksville, died on Sept. 25, 2003. He was a USN Korean War veteran. Husband of Virginia M. Father of John, Timothy and Gayle. Grandfather of Patrick, Andrew, Joseph and Meghan. Mary E. Cummings, died on Oct. 1, 2003 at North Shore University Hospital, Plainview, after a brief illness. Born on Sept. 11, 1928 in Manhattan, Miss Cummings was the devoted daughter of Agnes (Brady) and James J. Cummings.
In 1985, after 39 years of distinguished service with AT&T, she retired, taking up residences in Hicksville and, ultimately, Bethpage. For the 21 years of her life in Nassau County, she belonged to the parish of St. Ignatius Loyola RC Church in Hicksville, where she was a regular participant in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
She cared for her father until his death in 1967, her mother until her death in 1985 and her brother, Theodore, until his death in 1989. She is survived by her sister, Helen Byrne of Wappingers Falls, and her brother, James (Dolores) Cummings of Hicksville. Her brother-in-law, Thomas M. Byrne, predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by three nieces, five nephews, two grandnieces, six grandnephews, and many cousins and loving friends.
The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ignatius Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.
