Dwyer, Schweitzer Vie for Water Commissioner
Hicksville residents Karl Schweitzer and Robert Dwyer are seeking to be elected to a three-year term as Hicksville Water District Commissioner. Both men, with strong ties to the Hicksville community, are vying for the seat being vacated later this month by Gil Cusick, who, after serving as commissioner for the past 27 years, is retiring.

HFD Announces Plans for its 75th Annual Labor Day Extravaganza
As the Labor Day weekend is nearing, final family trips are being planned, summer homes will be closed and our beautiful beaches will attract thousands of last minute sun worshipers. It is also time for the Hicksville Fire Department's 75th Annual Labor Day Parade and Drill.

Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League Update
The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League beat the rain on their July 7 tournament with 31 men in attendance. Jack Smith had a great day and won the tournament with a new score of 24. There were 13 golfers who scored par or less and there were three birdies. Al Lippman got one on the 150 yard, par 3, second hole; Dan McCann got his on the par 4, 272 yard, sixth hole and Lou Neumann got one on the 182 yard, par 3, ninth hole. There are four men left in the match play tournament. They are Al Lippman, Al Lauritsen, John Pellegrino and Jim Anderson.

Hicksville Ice Hockey Tryouts and Clinic
The Hicksville Ice Hockey Club will hold its Annual Tryouts and Summer Brush-Up Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 to 10:45 p.m. at Cantiague Park in Hicksville. Administration fee for both days is $40. There will be a Freshman Team for students entering grades seven to nine and a Varsity Team for students entering grades 10 to 12.
