At approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, the Hicksville Fire Department responded to a call for an auto accident on Brittle Lane and Petal Lane. A black Crown Victoria hit a parked car and kept on going down Brittle Lane. The Nassau County Police Department transported the driver of the Crown Victoria to the hospital.
On Tuesday, Aug. 5, a 66-year-old Levittown man operating a tan 1999 Ford Crown Victoria made a left-hand turn from Burkland Lane eastbound onto Old Country Road when his vehicle was struck by a red Ford Econoline van, operated by a 33-year-old Hicksville man, travelling westbound.

Nassau County Police and Hicksville firefighters work to free a driver and passenger trapped in this Crown Victoria after an accident on Old Country Road on Tuesday.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Crown Victoria and his 70-year-old female passenger were trapped and a request for the jaws of life was issued. The Nassau County Police Emergency Service Bureau arrived on the scene and, along with the Hicksville Fire Department - under the direction of Captain John Keyer, extricated the two injured persons from the car. Nassau County Police Department ambulances #2362 and #2368 transported the victims to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) where they were both admitted and listed in serious condition as of press time. The van driver, who was alone in his vehicle, was also transported to NUMC and listed in stable condition.
Old Country Road was closed for over two hours while the Nassau County Police Department Crime Scene performed an investigation. Both vehicles were impounded for brake tests.
