The TD Waterhouse Cup (formerly the Hamlet Cup), Long Island's premier sporting event, will be contested Aug. 16-24 at the Hamlet Golf and Country Club in Commack. An ATP International Series Event, the TD Waterhouse Cup, in its 23rd year, offers the finest men's tennis played anywhere in the world.
Any boy or girl 13 years of age or older (as of July 15) interested in becoming a ballperson for this year's TD Waterhouse Cup is eligible to try out.
"Being a ballkid is a great way to be an important part of TD Waterhouse Cup Tennis," said Ballkid Coordinator Linda Galenskas. "We always receive great compliments from players on the quality of our ballkid team, and many kids return year after year. It's a wonderful experience for any boy or girl to get as close to the world's best top players as possible."
All ballkids will receive an official tournament uniform, lunch/dinner when working, and more. Parents are also welcome to participate in the tournament as a ballkid chaperone.
The 2003 TD Waterhouse Cup presented by Roslyn Savings Bank men's professional tennis tournament is seeking volunteers to fill numerous positions during the ATP men's event later this summer. Any person 16 years of age and older is eligible. Available positions include: corporate/hotel hospitality; credentials office; floaters; special events; ticket office; ticket takers; tournament office; ushers; volunteer office and transportation (must be 21 years of age). All volunteers must work a minimum of four main draw shifts (Aug. 18-24) and one qualifying shift (Aug. 16-17).
