Post members will also place flags on the graves of deceased comrades at Plainlawn Cemetery on Old Country Road in Hicksville while volunteers from Queens, Nassau and Suffolk will place flags on the graves of deceased comrades at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale.
The United Veterans Organization (UVO) will hold a Memorial Day Service at Plainlawn Cemetery. Immediately after, post members and the ladies auxiliary will go to the gravesite of William M. Gouse, Jr. in Westbury. The UVO of Nassau County will hold a Memorial Day service at Eisenhower Park at 10 a.m. and at Long Island National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Assembly for the Memorial Day Parade, hosted by American Legion Post #421 with the UVO of Hicksville, will take place at 8 a.m. in the Sears parking lot. The parade will kick off at 9 a.m. and will proceed south on Broadway to Old Country Road and head west to Jerusalem Avenue before going south to 4th Street. A Memorial Day service will then be held at the Hicksville Middle School.
After the ceremonies, a collation served by Post #3211 will be held at VFW Hall, 320 South Broadway. The public is invited to attend.

William Bennett

William Bennett has been selected as Grand Marshal for this year's Annual Hicksville Memorial Day Parade. Bennett ran last year's Memorial Day Parade as the Chairman of the United Veterans of Hicksville.
Bennett is a Korean War Veteran, who served with the Korean Military Advisory Group to the Republic of Korea in 1953-1954, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Korean Service Medal, among others. He is Past Commander of the William M. Gouse, Jr., VFW Post #3211, and Past Nassau County VFW Commander and also served as New York State Historian under State Commander Harry Wurth.
As this year's Grand Marshal, Bennett will be accompanied by his son, Raymond J. Bennett, a member of VFW Post #3211; his son's wife, Marlene, and their one-year-old son, Kenneth Joseph Bennett - William Bennett's first grandson.
