An election for two seats on the Hicksville Board of Education will take place on June 3. It's not much of a contest when one considers that there's only one horse of substance running in this rat race. Yes, all four candidates' letters of, "how wonderful am I," have been printed in the local papers, but now it's time to cut through the rhetorical nonsense and get to the crux of the matter.

There is only one candidate of importance and that is Gus Costa. If you want to see change and see this district return itself to a righteous place of respect, then you have but only one choice and that is to vote for Gus. Read his letters and see where he stands on the issues of the past and present. This is a man who not only has devoted himself to his family, but to his community as well. He has been a board member of the Hicksville Youth Council, a coach with the girls' softball league and an ardent supporter of the schools over the years. With Gus you will not be getting another puppet of Ms. Bright who will endorse her every whim, but you'll be getting an individual thinker who can and will make a difference in the community.

The deadlock cannot be broken when you have a majority who view themselves as a monarchy and listen not to the will of the people.
