Joanne Atchison Sheridan was inducted into the Holy Trinity High School Hall of Fame on April 12. A former resident of Hicksville, Sheridan was injured in a 1973 gymnastics accident, which left her quadriplegic.
Despite her injury, she went on to graduate from Holy Trinity and go on to St. John's University where she received a bachelor's degree in speech pathology. A year later, Sheridan received a master's degree from Hofstra University. While at St. John's, she met her husband, John. They were married in 1979 and have two children.
Seven years ago, Holy Trinity Diocesan High School dedicated a Hall of Fame to honor individuals who have made a significant impact on the history and development of the school. Sheridan was named a 2003 Holy Trinity Hall of Fame inductee for her "longstanding association with Holy Trinity, her support and active participation in the Alumni Career Days, her hard work and well-deserved success as a speech-language pathologist in the Levittown School District, her involvement with her class reunion committee, her courage and ability each and every day to face challenges - always seeing new possibilities, not limitations, and for her enthusiastic dedication to Holy Trinity.
Sheridan is the daughter of Rita and the late William Atchison of Hicksville. Her siblings, Paula, Beth, Mark and Timothy also graduated from Holy Trinity.
Congratulations to Sheridan and her family.
