The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League's last tournament did not start out well. Members gathered at the golf course and about five minutes before signing in, it began to rain. They did not want to put the tournament off until the next day because the forecast called for more rain but ended up doing so anyway because of the bad weather. Ironically, 10 minutes after the members got home it stopped raining and it stayed dry for the rest of the day. Then Friday, the day the tournament was rescheduled for, the weather turned out to be beautiful and they had a good tournament with 26 men showing up to play. There were a few good scores but most of the men were a little over their handicap. This may have been caused by the bumpy, aerated grass. There was only one birdie, shot by Karl Zoehfeld, on the par 4, 257 yard, 5th hole. Karl also won low net in his flight with a net score of 29.

The next tournament will be on Thursday, May 15.

Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 11 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 12 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league and is always looking for new members. Any man who is at least 55 years of age is eligible. For more information, call Lou Neumann at 681-2056.
