Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi will be holding a public meeting at Hicksville High School on Wednesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. Through meetings such as this, Nassau County residents will have - for the first time in many years - a hand in shaping the future of their community.
With the support of Nassau County's three town supervisors, local mayors and community input, the goal is to develop a detailed plan for the future of Hicksville that will be incorporated into the Nassau County Master Plan. The plan will then be used to encourage the development you want in your neighborhood and discourage development you do not want.
All residents are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Kathy Todd, Nassau County Economic Development, at 571-5985.
On April 27, the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate overrode the governor's veto of A. 8023/S. 4286 changing the date of this year's school district budget vote and school board elections from Tuesday, May 20 to Tuesday, June 3.
The change in voting date for 2003 necessitates the revision of information previously provided to residents regarding the Hicksville School District's 2003-2004 budget and trustee and election. The following is a listing of revised dates as a result of the postponement:
* Voter Registration: 3 to 8 p.m. at all district elementary schools
* Budget Hearing: 8:30 p.m. in the Administration Building
* The Hicksville Board of Education's regular meeting will immediately follow the above mentioned budget hearing
* Budget Vote and Trustee Election: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Burns Avenue, Dutch Lane, East Street, Fork Lane, Lee Avenue, Old County Road and Woodland Schools
* Hicksville Board of Education Meeting: 8:30 p.m. at Hicksville HS
