The incomparable 45-year-old Don Di Donato of Hicksville continued his love affair of over two decades with the Nationwide Insurance 10 Kilometer Run for ASPIRE on Saturday, April 5, winning the 26th Anniversary edition of Long Island's oldest continuously held 10-kilometer run in 34 minutes, 59 seconds. The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League's last tournament did not start out well. Members gathered at the golf course and about five minutes before signing in, it began to rain. They did not want to put the tournament off until the next day because the forecast called for more rain but ended up doing so anyway because of the bad weather. Ironically, 10 minutes after the members got home it stopped raining and it stayed dry for the rest of the day. Then Friday, the day the tournament was rescheduled for, the weather turned out to be beautiful and they had a good tournament with 26 men showing up to play. There were a few good scores but most of the men were a little over their handicap. This may have been caused by the bumpy, aerated grass. There was only one birdie, shot by Karl Zoehfeld, on the par 4, 257 yard, 5th hole. Karl also won low net in his flight with a net score of 29. FULL STORY
