Local Artist Paints Horses for County Exhibit
Just as races are announced at Belmont Park Race Track with the call "The horses are running," so too did Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi announce the kickoff of the "Horses of a Different Color" program. The kickoff took place on Tuesday, April 15 at the Nassau County Museum of Art with some 30 to 35 painted fiberglass horses lining the walkway from the parking lot and the terrace entrance to the museum.

Woodland Teacher Wins NY Lottery/TV 55 Educator Award
Winning New York Lottery's/ WLNY-TV 55 "Educator of the Week" Award was a true honor for Woodland Elementary School kindergarten teacher Linda Fuchs. But after teaching in the Hicksville School District for 29 years, her dream was realized seeing the first full-day kindergarten classes enter the elementary building this past September.

Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League Update
Members of the Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League were wondering what happened to spring during their March 17 tournament as it was another cold day on the golf course and the wind made things even worse. However, there were still 26 hardy golfers playing and surprisingly to members, the scores were not too bad. John Agnoli and Al Lippman had a net 26 and Agnoli won overall low because he beat Lippman on the first hole. There was only one birdie that day by Jim Gibbons on the 257 yard, par 4, fifth hole.

Registration for PAL Winter 2003 Sports
Nassau County Police Activity League will hold registration for its Hicksville unit 2003 Winter programs on Monday, April 28 and Wednesday, April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration will take place at the PAL trailer in the west parking field of KeySpan Energy on Old Country Road. (Enter at Old Country Road - opposite Raymond Street, or off Park Avenue.)
