Hicksville Gardens Civic Association (HGCA) met on March 27 at the Hicksville Public Library. At this time, Legislator Edward P. Mangano informed all present that the State of New York has recognized the need for a turning lane at the intersection of South Broadway and Gerald Avenue. Review of funds available and current budget will determine implementation. Legislator Mangano answered questions from the audience before handing the floor over to Nassau County POP Officer Murphy.
Officer Murphy began his talk on our traffic concerns regarding speed enforcement and stop sign adherence. He indicated that due to budget cuts and staffing reduction the three positions assigned strictly to traffic enforcement when he came on the force 18 years ago were no longer staffed. He continued the evening discussing various issues most importantly his correspondences with Kozey Shack, improved relations with the new High School principal and its new and improved security firm, Hicksville gang issues and the illegal dumping at the former TJ Courtney's.
The next scheduled meeting of the HGCA will be on April 24 at 7:15 p.m. in the community room of the Hicksville Public Library. Help us in preserving our suburban atmosphere while uniting residents to resolve our neighborhood's challenges. Help us choose our future battles and determine what we as a community want our community to be. Tell us your issues and concerns and we'll make them ours.
