Hicksville Hockey Alumni, spanning 40 years, will come together once again to participate in the 10th Annual Alumni Games and Banquet. This event draws former players from all over the country to reunite in a tradition so common in the sport of hockey and to the reputation of Hicksville Hockey.

Long Island's oldest high school hockey club alumni will fill two games at Cantiague Park on Saturday April 5. The first game will match graduates from the years 1981-2002 while the second game will reunite graduates from the years 1961-1980. Between the two games, this season's varsity and freshman teams will combine in an exhibition game to showcase their talents.

Following the final game, a buffet banquet and ceremony will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Hicksville. At this time, MVP, farthest traveled and oldest participant awards, among others, will be presented amidst a bevy of raffle prizes. In addition, two former players will be inducted into the newly created Hicksville Hockey Hall of Fame.

Last year, the inaugural inductees were current coach Bill Alonge, who has logged 32 seasons behind the bench, and Charles Hauck, a team administrator who stayed on with the team long after his two sons had graduated. This year's honorees remain confidential until the presentation. The criteria for this honor takes into consideration several factors, including: achievement as a player in their high school career and in further pursuits; a measurable return of their time and expertise into the sport of ice hockey in general; and a "spirit" factor in upholding the tradition and reputation so prevalent at Hicksville Hockey.

The Alumni Association also takes pride in the fund-raising success of this annual event. Last season's proceeds provided each and every player a professionally fit, top of the line helmet decorated with full team graphics and players' numbers. Additional corporate and individual support is always welcome.
