(Editor's Note: The following letter was sent by the family of James Knight to the corporate office of Tiger Schulman's Karate.)

My son, James, was born with a very rare disorder called CCHS. When James goes to sleep he does not breathe adequately. If he is not vented at night, he will die. James is a bright, 7-year-old child who is vent dependent at night.

When I first brought him home I could not find a pediatrician who would take care of him. There was a time when he was very sick and we brought him to a local pediatrician's office. The pediatrician said he could not take care of our child. He did not treat him. He did not examine him. We went home and thanks to the help of our nurses, we were not forced to take him to the hospital.

When James reached school age, I could not find a school that would take him because he is trached. It took us almost three years and about $3,000 in lawyer's fees before James was allowed in the local public school. That's right, the public school. Can you imagine?

Well that's enough history. I want you to know you should be very proud of [Tiger Schulman's Karate] in Hicksville. They welcomed my handicapped son without any problems. [Through their assistance] my son is stronger physically and mentally. He walks and runs much better. As a matter of fact, he concentrates more in school. As a result, the local school no longer has to pay a therapist. Had the school hired your Hicksville staff, James might have been walking earlier.

You have a very warm, friendly staff that care for all children. They are very special people and I want you to know that. I thank you for giving my son the gift of running. He is stronger and healthier. He has a better quality of life. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
