William J. Jakabek, of Palm Bay, FL, formerly of Hicksville, died on Nov. 5, 2002. A WWII veteran, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, a member of the American Institute of Architecture, VFW. He attended Columbia and was a graduate of the National Technical Institute. He worked at I.M. Pei & Partners for over 25 years and was a senior associate and project manager of the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Husband of Dorothy M. Father of Doreen Wittig, Ellen Deck, William and the late John. Grandfather of four. Great-grandfather of two. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Mass at St. Ignatius RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
