Hicksville Varsity Football Needs Town Support
Last Saturday I was driving home from work when I passed by Hicksville High School and noticed a football game was in progress. Now, normally I wouldn't think much of the event and high tail it home to catch up on some errands. Okay, maybe I wasn't going to do any errands.
Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League Holds Final Tournament of 2002
The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League held its final tournament of the year on Oct. 17. There was a good turnout again, with 25 golfers, but in general the scores were not too great. Only two men shot a net under par and there were no birdies. League members still enjoyed the day, especially since they had lunch at Fatato Bros. Brick Oven Pizza after they finished golfing. They gave out the regular prizes for the tournament and then gave out the prizes for the match play tournament. Don Gangamella won first prize, Don Gaynor was second and David Boone and Mike Dolan came in third. Prizes were also given out for the club championship, which was won by Peter Kerr with a total of 26 points. Runners up were George Hatalsky and Jake Ziegler with 25 points each and Don Gangamella and Bill Gregory with 23 points each. Points are awarded for attendance and for winning events in the tournaments.
