On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, several Hicksville residents lost their lives in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. At this difficult time, the Hicksville Illustrated News would like to remember those men and women, their families and loved ones.

Hicksville resident Nancy Bueche, 43, drafted insurance contracts for Aon Corp on the 102nd floor of Tower Two. Bueche grew up in Richmond Hill and moved to Hicksville after getting married. She enjoyed attending country fairs and bargain shopping.

Bueche is survived by her husband, James, and daughter, Bridget.

Former Hicksville resident Mark Joseph Colaio, 34, worked at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center's north tower. He lived in TriBeCa with his wife, June, who he met when they were in middle school in Hicksville. Colaio's 32-year-old brother, Stephen, also perished in the attacks.

In addition to his wife, Colaio is survived by his children, Delaney and Joseph; parents, Victor and Christina Colaio of Montauk; sister, Jean Colaio Steinbach of Manhattan; brother-in-law, Tanguy Steinbach; nephew, Maxmillian Steinbach; and uncle, Gerard Colaio.

Former Hicksville resident Stephen Colaio, 32, worked at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center's north tower. A graduate of Hicksville High School, Stephen Colaio was engaged to marry Serena Giovi. His 34-year-old brother, Mark, also perished in the attacks.

In addition to his fiancee, Stephen Colaio is survived by his parents, Victor and Christina Colaio of Montauk; sister, Jean Colaio Steinbach of Manhattan; brother-in-law, Tanguy Steinbach; nephews and nieces, Maxmillian Steinbach, and Delaney and Joseph Colaio; and uncle Gerard Colaio.

Gilbert Franco Granados, 51, of Hicksville was a loss-control consultant for Aon Corp on the 98th floor of Tower Two. He also served as a Coast Guard reservist for 20 years. Granados grew up in East Los Angeles but came to New York to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. While in his last year, Granados met Teresa, a nurse. The couple married the following year.

In addition to his wife, Granados is survived by his daughters, Maureen and Kathleen.

Thomas E. Pedicini, 30, of Hicksville was an institutional equities broker for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center's north tower. He had recently moved to an apartment in Woodside with two of his friends.

Pedicini is survived by his parents Nancy and Albert Pedicini of Hicksville; and sisters June Coaio, Pam Morace and Anne Pedicini of Hicksville.

Hicksville resident Kenneth Frederick Rice, III, 34, was an assistant vice president in the technology department of Marsh & McLennan on the 96th floor of Tower One. Rice had a love for motorcycles, traveling, cigars and computers.

Rice is survived by his parents, Karen and Ken of Hicksville, girlfriend, Maggie; and brothers, Keith of Denver and Kyle and Karl of Hicksville.

Hicksville resident Brian John Terrenzi, 28, was a global network manager at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 101st floor of Tower One. He began his job in the World Trade Center in February 2001 and would have celebrated his 29th birthday on Sept. 21. Terrenzi and his wife, Jane, met in 1994 while studying abroad in Rome and were married four years later.

In addition to his wife, Terrenzi is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Brian, who was born in December following the attacks; and several family members.

Walter Weaver, 30, a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer and resident of Hicksville, served with the NYPD Emergency Services Unit Truck #3 out of the Bronx. He became a New York City police officer in 1992. Known by friends as "Wally," Weaver loved the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing and ice skating and also taught hunting and safety courses in his spare time.

Weaver is survived by his parents Scotty and Joan Weaver; brothers Brian and Michael; girlfriend Shannon Faulkner; as well as aunts Carole and Barbara and cousins Debbie and Richie.
