The ceremony, which included a moment of silence at 10:29 a.m., began with a procession of court officers on the courthouse steps facing Old Country Road.

At this time, tribute was paid to the three court officers who gave their lives responding to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Captain William "Harry" Thompson and Senior Court Officers Mitchell Wallace and Thomas Jurgens. A tree was planted in their honor and an engraved memorial stone was dedicated in their memory.

At 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday September 11, 2002 Nassau County Family Court held a memorial ceremony to commemorate the one year anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

A ceremony in honor of the victims of September 11, 2001 was held outside Westbury courthouse earlier this week. Three court officers perished in the attacks.
