I have been swimming at Cantiague Park Pool and the bathroom is extremely dirty this year. There is always toilet paper all over the floor in the toilet areas. The rollers do not work well and the paper tears off easily. There are half-empty water bottles and soda bottles and clothes everywhere. Most of the shower curtains are off halfway and the handicapped shower curtain is off completely.
The worst was a used [feminine hygiene product] in a soap dish in the shower. I spoke to park personnel and was told that they only have a man who comes in at night to clean, but it was left there for days. I wrote to Holy Family Camp about the conditions and a camp counselor returned my call.
I have been swimming at the Y for over 10 years and it is kept very clean. I have never even found one piece of toilet paper on the floor. I do not expect such conditions at Cantiague Pool, but the filth there is not fair to clean people. Costs are up for the camps and I would think that there would be at least one person there at least part of the day to clean up filth, if necessary, during the day.
