An East Meadow man was killed in Hicksville on Sunday, July 28, according to detectives from the 8th Squad. According to police, 23-year-old Khurram Azam drove his motorcycle through a red light and into a turning car.

Azam was driving his motorcycle north on Jerusalem Avenue about 4:19 p.m. when he struck the driver's side door of a 1999 Toyota, driven by Antonio Ferrufino, 40, of Levittown. Ferrufino, who traveling westbound on Old Country Road, was attempting to turn south onto Jerusalem Avenue.
According to Det. Sgt. Vincent Quigley, Azam was thrown into the intersection. Both Azam and Ferrufino were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. Azam was pronounced dead at 8:23 p.m. as a result of blunt-force injury to the head. Ferrufino suffered injuries to his left eye.
The motorcycle, a 2001 Honda, and the car, a 1999 Toyota, were impounded for safety checks. No charged have been filed against the operator of the Toyota.
