The Hicksville Flash U-14 boys soccer team recently held open tryouts at Triangle Park.

The tryouts were run by Pro-Excell Soccer School, formerly known as Noga. Three highly ranked trainers with the organization rated the boys on their skill level and how they performed in game situations. Everyone got a fair chance to perform. The trainers then sat down with Coach Vito Sciascia and picked the team.

Many local youngsters tried out and the 16 boys selected were Danny Alves, Kenny Garger, Kevin Myers, Joey Pepi, Devin Laviano, Timothy Sciascia, Brian Scott, Brian Masterson, Teddy Bruckner, Kyle Bloecker, George Rios, Joey Dzienius, Michael Sanchez, Kevin Cardoza, Carlos Mendez and Kyle Collier. Paul Masterson and Randy Bruckner were named assistant coaches and will, along with Coach Vito Sciascia, attend classes at PolyTech to earn their C and B licenses and a better knowledge of the game.

Any local businesses that are interested in sponsoring the team should contact Coach Sciascia at 822-2885. All donations are greatly appreciated.
