On Monday, June 17, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island will be hosting its 6th annual Golf Tournament at the Muttontown Country Club in East Norwich. Golf enthusiasts will want to take this opportunity to play one of the most beautiful private courses on Long Island.

Tournament guests begin their day with an elaborate breakfast buffet on the outdoor patio, and time at the driving range and putting greens. Once on the course, golfers enjoy a barbecue lunch plus snacks and beverages throughout the day. Evening brings a sunset cocktail hour on the patio followed by a buffet dinner, awards, raffles and a silent auction. Awards are presented for Team Low Net (1st, 2nd, 3rd), longest drive, closest to the line, closest to the pin and individual low gross.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the premiere mentoring agency on Long Island since 1977, and has cultivated thousands of relationships for children in need of additional support and guidance. Results from an independent study showed that children who met regularly with their "Bigs" were less likely to skip school, were more confident about their schoolwork, had improved relationships with their parents and peers, and were significantly less likely to engage in negative and destructive behavior. Volunteer mentors are screened and trained and then carefully matched with a child.
