Amanda Roach of Hicksville recently placed first on beam in the 2002 New York State Level 7 Gymnastic Championship. Amanda had a nearly flawless beam routine, scoring a 9.70. She not only outscored the other gymnasts in her age group, but also outscored the 250 plus gymnasts that had qualified from throughout the state to compete in this year's state championship meet.
