The Hicksville Community Tennis Association (HCTA) recently announced its plans for summer 2002.

Munchkin/Little Tennis, the peewee program for kids 4 to 7 years old, will be played at the Hicksville Middle School on Mondays. The USA Junior Team Tennis Program includes ralleyball (8 to 12 years old) and team tennis with intramural play. Many of the children from last year's ralleyball program will be moving up to Team Tennis. Domino's Pizza is again the sponsor of the Year End Awards and Tennis Party.

There will be two adult leagues. Intermediate and advanced play leagues will meet on Mondays and advanced beginner and intermediate players will meet on Wednesdays. There are plans for an adult tournament this year for HCTA players.

The HCTA will join with other community service organizations to support the Hicksville Heroes fund. In recognition, $1 of each registration fee will go to the fund. In addition, the HCTA will award one $500 scholarship to a Hicksville senior through the Hicksville School District Scholarship Program. For the summer programs, the association will offer scholarships to local schools for their continued support. This year, the HCTA will again support the Hicksville boys and girls varsity tennis teams.

Registration for all programs will be as follows:

* Wednesday, May 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hicksville High School tennis courts

* Tuesday, May 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in St. Ignatius' small cafeteria

* Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hicksville Middle School tennis courts

* Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hicksville High School tennis courts
