If your neighbor suddenly decided to erect an 8-foot high chain link fence on their property line, directly across the street from you, and then constructed a baseball diamond using that fence as a back stop and invited outside baseball players to play ball using your street for a parking lot you would expect that you could find some authority to stop them, but not if that neighbor was the local school supported by town officials.
Levitt provided a park for Levitt homeowners and a complex for them to play in, but from the very beginning Levitt homeowners have proved no match for the Hicksville Baseball Association.
In their letter titled "Thanks for Improving Levitt Complex," the association said in part "our sincerest thanks to Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto and his team for doing such an outstanding job of rejuvenating the Abe Levitt Complex in Hicksville" adding "we are sure that all the children and parents in our organization will thoroughly enjoy our beautiful complex during the coming season."
While they are enjoying "their" complex, we, the rightful owners, have streets filled with parked cars, endless traffic that endangers our children who are forced to play in the streets, noise and pollution. We want our park back. I think it's time to take legal steps to get it back.
