Hicksville's Girls Varsity Gymnastics Team recently placed eighth in Nassau County and represented the school in the county's Team Championship for the first time in over a decade.

Two team members competed in the county's state-qualifying meet and placed in individual events. Eighth grader Leighann Lauro placed All-State, vault; and All County on bars, beam and floor. Senior Captain Heather Hock took second place, bars; third place, vault; third place, All Around; and All County in bars, beam, floor and vault.

Rounding out the team, which is led by Coach Barbara Hebron and Assistant Coach Angela Matarazzo, are Jessica Dauz, Nicole Dragisics, Denise McKenna, Catherine Radonic, Lisa Costa, Michelle Dragisics, Danielle Cavallo, Melissa Aluska, Alexandra Daus, Kelly Dwyer, Jill Lowig, Christina Schwab and Swati Shah.
