The recent letter from Hicksville School Superintendent Dr. Edward Finn regarding the proposed Hicksville School bond points out a very simple equation. The district needs to spend money to protect its investment. All we need to do is look around at other school districts on Long Island to see what happens when basic infrastructure needs are ignored, postponed or delayed. Catastrophe.
Every responsible homeowner spends the money to ensure the roof is in place, the boiler is functioning, the windows can open and the place is secure. But this district is much more than brick and mortar. This is a reflection of how we are protecting our home property values, our children's future and the reputation of Hicksville.
It is good to see Dr. Finn go into a detailed explanation regarding how interest rates are currently constructed for school bond issues like this, but the big picture is very simple - approving this bond issue protects a lot more than pipe, wire and brick.
On March 20 we should vote for the future of not just the schools, but for the future of our community.
