The Hicksville Flash entered their first indoor tournament of the season at SUNY Stony Brook, on Friday, Dec. 21.
The Flash, who competed in Division 6 during the fall season, played in 5 tournament games, and achieved a first place victory. Their first game was against Division 4, Stony Brook Typhoon. The Flash won 2-0, goals were scored by Danny Alves and Kevin Meyers. In their second game, they met Stony Brook Lightning, and came away with a 2-0 win. Goals were scored by Danny Alves and Kevin Meyers. The third game was played against the Division 3 Stony Brook Tornadoes.
The Flash won 4-1, with goals scored by Danny Alves (2), Kevin Meyers, and Teddy Bruckner. Their fourth game was a hard-fought battle against Division 5 Newfield Saints, which the Flash won 5-3. Goals were scored by Danny ALVES (3) Kevin Myers (1), Danny Musinski (1). Their final game was against Division 6 South Huntington Firebirds.
The Flash won again, by a score of 2-0. Goals were scored by Kevin Myers (1), Danny Musinski (1). The Flash was led by the outstanding goal tending of Brian Scott, who recorded 3 shut outs.
The line of George Rios, Timothy Sciascia, Brian Masterson and Teddy Bruckner softened up their opponents for the line of Danny Alves, Kevin Myers, and Danny Musinski, whose line scored 14 goals in 5 games. Kenny Garger, who set up most of the goals, also provided flawless defense. Coaches Vito Sciascia and Paul Masterson expressed much pride in the way their team showed sportsmanship and teamwork.
They also extended thanks to all the parents who attended the tournament and witnessed the team's first place victory. The Flash have many more upcoming tournaments planned this winter. They want to thank all of their sponsors for all of the support they have given.
