The Hicksville Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its 4th Annual Culinary "Food and Wine Tasting" event, co-hosted by the Hicksville Emergency Company #9. Chamber President Sam Maruca thanked all those who helped make the Oct. 29 event a success, especially Imperial Manor, the Broadway Mall, and Carr Business Solutions, along with the many restaurants and vendors who participated. The chamber also hosted a successful Meet the Candidates luncheon on Oct. 30 at the Imperial Manor, featuring County Executive Candidates Thomas Suozzi and Bruce Bent.

Planning is now under way for the Hicksville Gregory Museum's Annual Children's Science Fair, to be held on March 23, 2002. The fair is currently seeking sponsors from the local business community.

The Science Fair is for all first through eighth grade public and private school students who are residents of Hicksville and the surrounding area, or museum members.

"Over the years Hicksville students have consistently demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field of scientific exploration. We believe the Science Fair should continue," explained an announcement of the science fair to the business community, adding, "That's why we're asking for your support. The Hicksville Gregory Museum is a non-profit 501(c) organization, and as such, your donation may be tax deductible."
