On Saturday, Nov. 3, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Hicksville Fire Department provided emergency assistance at the scene of a car that had crashed into a building at Bethpage Road and Twin Lawns Avenue.

Hicksville Makes a Strong Showing in Island-wide Race
Travis Tate and Kathy Martin Win Long Island Championship Race --
Travis Tate of East Northport blazed a trail for nearly 300 harriers who successfully completed the second annual Run for Their Lives Long Island Track & Field Cross Country Championship on Sunday morning, Oct. 28, completing the 8 Kilometer course at Bethpage State Park in 27:28. By virtue of his win, Travis becomes the USATF-Long Island cross country champion for 2001. Kathy Martin of Northport scored as the women's winner in 31:19.

Boy Scouts Alumni Association Formed
The Theodore Roosevelt Council Boy Scouts of America, headquartered in Massapequa, announced the formation of an alumni association for past staff, campers and friends of Onteora Scout Reservation. The camp is located in Livingston Manor, New York, and is owned and operated by the Theodore Roosevelt Council (formerly Nassau County Council). The council serves over 17,000 Nassau County young people every year with programs in Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing.
