Triathlon Brings Out Local Speedsters
Javier Cuevas of North Bergen, NJ outkicked Michael Trunkes of Glen Cove to win the 14th annual edition of the Vytra-TOBAY Triathlon, held in and around Oyster Bay on Sunday morning, Aug. 19. Cuevas crossed the finish line in 59 minutes, 58 seconds, nine seconds in front of Trunkes, with Justin Cisario of Oceanside third in 1:00:36, Gary Jensen of Sayville fourth in 1:01:01, and 2000 winner Andre Lapar of Glen Cove was fifth in 1:01:26. Top Masters finisher was 48-year-old Fred Neinast of Belle Harbor in 1:01:44.
