Hicksville Council of PTAs Awards $24,300 in Scholarships
In early June the Hicksville Council of PTAs held their Scholarship Tea to present scholarships to the Class of 2001. Invited guests, PTA presidents and unit representatives marveled at the number and total amount of scholarships awarded by individual units and council - over $24,300! The funds for these scholarships come from various fund-raising events sponsored by Hicksville PTA units and profits from the annual Homecoming Fair.

Middle School Eighth Graders Move on to Hicksville High School
Members of Hicksville Middle School's eighth-grade class processed into the gym to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance to begin their commencement exercises. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edward J. Finn, Board of Education President Nancy Callari, PTSA President Gina Cinelli, offered their congratulatory remarks to the students as part of the ceremony.

Cantiague Men's Golf Results
On July 19 the Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League held its ninth bi-monthly tournament. "The day was a great day to play golf (What day isn't?) It was cool with a little wind. We had 26 men participate today. That is the second highest number for the year. Al Lauritsen had an outstanding day today. He says that it was the best he had ever played. He won overall low score with a Net 27 and he also won Closest to the Pin AND the Longest Drive. Way to go, Al," reported Lou Neumann, organizer.
