Approximately 130 people turned out at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge in Hicksville recently, for the Hicksville Youth Council's (HYC) sixth annual Appreciation Night.

Kessler Breaks Hofstra University Scoring Record
Tom Kessler, Hicksville High School alumnus, Class of '98 and Hofstra junior lacrosse attackman, broke the Hofstra University lacrosse scoring record for one season by two goals this year. The previous record was set back in 1989 by Michael LaCrosse. LaCrosse (his real name) scored 49 goals that season.

Hicksville Soccer Players 'Storm' Tournament
Hicksville's next generation of soccer stars started their tournament careers off with a perfect 6-0 record to capture the NOGA 3 v 3 tournament championship in the boys U16 division held at the Plainview Soccer Park June 30. The Storm won in a true team fashion with each member scoring multiple times, either in solo efforts, or from excellent passes from their teammates. The team was able to record a massive 28 goals during play, while holding their opposition to only eight.
