Thousands Participate in Hicksville's Tribute to the Community's War Dead

Cheers for Hicksville Girls Softball
What a year for Hicksville girls' softball! Coming out of the 7th seed the Hicksville High School Girls' Varsity Softball team beat the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeds to win the Nassau County Class A. Championship. Behind the outstanding play of seniors Cindy McCarthy, Melissa DeRosa and Courtney Shaudel and eighth-grader Danielle Sekesian, the team defeated three-time Nassau champ Baldwin to begin its title journey. From Katina Leo to the Thomas sisters (Kelly and Caitlin), Patty Dilg to Glenda Rogers, every member of the team delivered and showed Nassau County the tremendous level of skills possessed by our female athletes.

PAL Fourth Graders Blaze Through Season
The Hicksville PAL 4th grade lacrosse team, Black Blaze has completed a successful 2001 season. This concludes the second year together as a team for the Blaze. In summer 2000 and winter 2001 the Blaze played in the Long Island Lacrosse League at SUNY Farmingdale winning 1st place championship in both leagues.
