Hicksville Community Prepares for Budget Vote
The Hicksville community has been preparing to head to the polls on Tuesday, May 15, to vote on the proposed 2001-2002 school budget and board of education candidates. In anticipation of the vote, Hicksville Community Council, in conjunction with the Hicksville Gardens Civic Association and Duffy Park Civic Association, recently hosted a well-attended community forum on the budget and candidates, at the Hicksville Public Library.

Post Office Gears up for Letter Carriers Food Drive
The Hicksville Post Office recently held a kickoff for the annual letter carriers food drive, which will be conducted this Saturday, May 12.

Hicksville Flash Win Opening Game
The Hicksville Flash opened their spring season on March 24 against Garden City, and won on a Timothy Sciascia goal with less than two minutes to go in the game by a score of 1-0. Their second game was a hard-fought tie: 1-1 against Glen Cove.

Cantiague Men's Golf Results
On May 3, the Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League held its fourth bi-monthly tournament. Twenty-eight men played, setting a record high for quite a few years. In general, the scores were not too good, but all the men were glad to be there. There was only one birdie, which was hit by George Hatawsky on the par four, 257 yard fifth hole. (It's rated as the most difficult on the course.) George also won the low net score for the tournament with a score of 27.
