Long-Time Resident, Co-Author Anne Evers Dies
Long-time Hicksville resident Anne Evers, who co-authored many Hicksville history books with her husband, Richard Evers, died Friday, Feb. 9 surrounded by family. She was 84. Mrs. Evers was waked at Stocks Funeral Home. Father James Carmody celebrated her Mass at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church in Hicksville Tuesday, Feb. 13 with an interment following at Calverton National Cemetery.

Holy Family Improves Record to 8-2
Even though four members of the team were missing, Holy Family was able to score an impressive 72-49 win over Our Lady of Mercy last Sunday. With Josh Cuozzo, James Robison, Bobby McAuley, and Mike Wasiluk all on family vacations, Holy Family's remaining six players picked up the slack and put together a great team effort.
Men's Golf League Holds Meeting
The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League will hold its first meeting at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at the clubhouse at Cantiague Park. The league is open to senior men ages 55 and older and it's 100 percent handicapped. The league holds tournaments on the first and third Thursday of each month, where awards and prizes are given out.
