Icy Roads Lead To Eight Car Pile-Up
Icy road conditions Friday, Dec. 22, led to an eight-car pile-up on Newbridge Road and Kingston Street. It had snowed lightly earlier in the day and when temperatures dropped, ice formed and made traveling hazardous. Several people were injured, although none seriously, and Chief Doucette of the Hicksville Fire Department immediately called for a state truck sander. Newbridge Road was closed from Fordham Avenue to Second Street for over an hour.

Level 7 Team Takes Third Place
Third and fourth grade students at Burns Avenue School had the opportunity to learn the effects of cardiovascular fitness as well as support the American Heart Association monetarily. On one of their half-days in November, students, broken into teams of six, rotated around 16 exercise stations participating in various activities, including step aerobics, jumping rope, exercise bikes and more.
