Hicks Deli Moderately Damaged By Fire
Saturday, Dec. 2. at 1:22 a.m., Hicksville firefighters received an alarm for an outside rubbish fire against a building located on Levittown Parkway. Upon arrival, first units found the fire well advanced and spreading into the building, which holds Hicks Deli and four other businesses, according to Owen Magee, public information officer for the Hicksville Fire Department.

The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) praised the Nassau County Legislature for Úquot;opting inÚquot; to the state's neighbor notification law, which will ensure that residents will receive 48 hours advance written notice prior to commercial pesticide lawn application.

Opening Night for Boys Hoops
It was opening night for fourth grade hoops at the Cantiague gym. The match-up featured the Driftwood Spurs versus the Sam Ash Jazz. Both teams with show much skill, hustle and determination right from the opening whistle. The Spurs got off to a quick start led by Craig Tarasoff scoring all six points in the opening period. Also contributing to the Spurs cause was Jason Blumberg, four points; Adam Weser, six points; and Steven Ackerman, two points.
