Saturday, Dec. 2. at 1:22 a.m., Hicksville firefighters received an alarm for an outside rubbish fire against a building located on Levittown Parkway. Upon arrival, first units found the fire well advanced and spreading into the building, which holds Hicks Deli and four other businesses, according to Owen Magee, public information officer for the Hicksville Fire Department. It was opening night for fourth grade hoops at the Cantiague gym. The match-up featured the Driftwood Spurs versus the Sam Ash Jazz. Both teams with show much skill, hustle and determination right from the opening whistle. The Spurs got off to a quick start led by Craig Tarasoff scoring all six points in the opening period.
