Hicksville Hockey is 40 Years Strong
When the Hicksville Ice Hockey Club takes to the ice this September for its first game of the 2000-01 season, it will mark the 40th consecutive year the team has done so. According to Coach Bill Alonge, it is the longest tenure of any ice hockey team on Long Island.

More Crows Found Infected With West Nile
Following the discovery of West Nile Virus (WNV) in seven crows in the eastern part of Nassau County, the county is continuing efforts to control the growth of mosquito larvae, but has not scheduled aerial spraying, Nassau County Executive Thomas Gulotta announced this week.

Senior Men's Golf Tournament, August 17
Fair skies and warm temperatures provided a perfect backdrop for golf as the members of the Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League set out to conquer the county-owned nine-hole course. Walter Pietsch of Freeport took advantage of the pristine weather conditions, the best they had been n several weeks, to win the overall low score (26).

It's a Team Effort
Team Dwyer took third place in the Seacrest-TOBAY Triathlon. The annual event was held on Sunday, August 20 in Oyster Bay. Mom, Eileen Dwyer, kicked off the race with the three-quarter mile swim. Dillon Dwyer took up the cycling leg of the competition as he pedaled through the hills of the North Shore. Bradie Ann Dwyer achored the team with a superb 3.1 mile run. Team Dwyer's combined times qualified them for third place. Congratulations.
