More than 400 Long Island runners and walkers showed up at the Long Island Four-Mile Championship Run in Ronkonkoma on Saturday, June 24, an event that has become revitalized this year by its acceptance as part of the KeySpan Energy Grand Prix of Long Island Road Racing administered by Long Island Track and Field.

In honor of the occasion, Phil Maroney of KeySpan Energy, based in Hicksville, presented a check for $1,000 to the Lake Ronkonkoma Rotary Club to assist them in the myriad charitable and civic good works that the Rotary conducts.

The Championship Run was won by Don Di Donato of Hicksville. Don has proved himself time and again this year as being Long Island's top road racer and he was attracted to the Ronkonkoma event by virtue of its role as part of the KeySpan Grand Prix.
