In recent weeks several letters to this newspaper have intimated that Dave Staton harbors an anti-Catholic bias. Obviously the authors do not know Dave very well.

I have known Dave for approximately ten years and he is an individual of impeccable character. In addition, few in this community can match Dave's passion and commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Hicksville's residents. He has been selfless and indefatigable in his service to our community whether it be as president of the Duffy Park Civic Association, trustee of the Hicksville Board of Education or St. Ignatius CYO coach. CYO? Catholic Youth Organization? How ironic. Dave's service to this community has benefited all residents, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.

Dave Staton is not anti-Catholic. Dave Staton is pro-Hicksville. Dave, your friends and admirers are legion and your accomplishments legendary. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of our community.
