Marion Kordecki died on Feb. 4, 2000 and Walter J. Kordecki, of Jericho, died on Feb. 6, 2000. Parents of Robert B., Richard J. Kordecki and Janine Gruen. Marion was the sister of Edward, Raymond and Richard Frederick, Joan Fasano and Laurie Tulko. Walter was the brother of Cecilia Zacharewicz and Eleanor Searles. Grandparents of seven. Pauline Brandfon (nee Berenson), former resident of Hicksville from 1951 to 1979, died in Margate, FL, on Feb. 5, 2000. Born in NYC in 1916, she was 82.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Philip Brandfon, retired photographer of Margate; sister Minnie Moskowitz of Flushing; brother Dr. Gerald Berenson of Arlington, VA; daughter Judy Greenfield, project coordinator of New Visions, Intl. in Chandler, AZ; son Martin Brandfon, attorney in Redwood City, CA; and three grandchildren, Roby Jacobus, Jeremy Jacobus and Clare Conlon.
Mr. and Mrs. Brandfon were founding members of the Hicksville Jewish Center, where he was active in the Men's Club and she had been president of the Sisterhood from 1961 to 1963. They also belonged to Congregation Shaarei Zedek. Mrs. Brandfon was a member of B'nai Brith and a past president of the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of Women's ORT.
A graveside ceremony was held at the Star of David Cemetery, in Tamarac, FL, on Feb. 7. In attendance were neighbors and former Hicksville residents Bernard Fishman and Edward Hoffman. Donations can be made in her memory to Women's American ORT.
Louis C. Sciarini, of Plainview, died on Feb. 6, 2000. He was a graduate of Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy and retired from NY Telephone Co. as a sale manager. He was a member of Family Motor Coach Association of NC and the LI Banjo Society. Husband of the late Elizabeth. Father of Louis, Edward, Elizabeth DeAngelo and James. Grandfather of 11. Grat-grandfather of two. Brother of Charles, Dorothy Nugent and the late Jack Sarin. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Mass at Our Lady of Mercy RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
