Burton C. Jenkins, of Hicksville, died on Jan. 7, 2000. Husband of Lois. Father of Gordon, Kevin and Cheryl Gschwind. Grandfather of Kerri, Keith, Kimberly, Jeremiah, Jason, Brian, Paul and Andy. Great-grandfather of Kye. Brother of Robert. Arrangements were made by the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, Hicksville. Religious services at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.

Thomas R. Costa, formerly of Hicksville, died on Jan. 8, 2000. He was president of the Thomas R. Costa Insurance Agency in Garden City. Husband of the late Mary. Father of Maria, Thomas R. Jr., Gregory, Michael, Peter, Martin, Annette Tambone, Paul, John, Andrea and the late Anne and Christine. Grandfather of nine. Brother of Connie Gayzur. Arrangements were made by the M.A. Connell Funeral Home, Huntington Station. Mass at St. Matthew's RC Church. Contributions can be made, in Thomas Costa's name, to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation.

Sister Maria-Martha Lien Tran, of the Sisters of the Lovers of the Holy Cross, Brookville, died on Jan. 9, 2000. Religious sister of Martha and Theresa at her community at St. Paul the Apostle RC Church, Brookville. God-given source of hope, support and inspiration to the Vietnamese community on LI. Friend, shining light and unwavering example of cheerful devotion to her co-workers. In 20 years of service with Catholic Charities, Sr. Maria came to be known as the angel of refugees on LI, almost single-handedly guiding the resettlement of hundreds of Vietnamese refugees who came to LI in the '80s. More recently, Sr. Maria was working with the 70 refugees who had arrived from Kosovo and with others from Haiti, Iraq, China and Eastern Europe. Arrangements were made by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Paul the Apostle RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Donations to continue Sr. Maria's work may be made to the Sisters of the Lovers of the Holy Cross, St. Paul's Convent, 2534 Cedar Swamp Rd., Brookville, NY 11545.

Lorraine A. O'Donnell, of Hicksville, died Jan. 9, 2000. Wife of Edward. Mother of Linda Deriso and Laura Raymond. Grandmother of six. Arrangements were made by the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, Hicksville. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marion G. Summers, 78, of Port Richey, FL, formerly of Hicksville, died on Jan. 26, 2000. She was born in Brooklyn and was a homemaker. Mother of Jeannela Monica of Port Richey and Kathleen Summers of Mesa, AZ. Grandmother of nine. Great-grandmother of six. Arrangements were made by the Wellwood/Grace Funeral Home, Hudson, FL.
