The Hicksville High School Girls Varsity Soccer team celebrated a successful season where they barely missed the playoffs at the Annual Coaches Dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club last December.

The team, which finished with an 8-3-1 record, needed to win its final game to win the conference and obtain a playoff spot. Sadly they lost 2-1. It was a tough loss for the team, as they were forced to play without two players, who were lost to injury in the opening eight minutes of the game. Both players were taken to the hospital, one with a sprained arm and the other with a dislocated finger. The loss of these two key players did not help the team's playoff chances.

Despite this, the team had a terrific season as they were led by captain's Marisa Pistone, Jen Zollo, and Rose Zollo. Pistone, a senior, finished with 66 career goals and was selected to the All-County team. Rose Zollo earned all-classification honors and Jen Zollo and Ursula Simicic were selected all-conference.

Coach Tom Manaskie wishes the best of luck to his graduating seniors, Marisa Pistone, Harriet Andronikides, Christina Osorio, Rose Zollo, Jen Zollo, and Tanya Kotowicz. He stated that it will be hard for the team to replace these key players, but is sure that with help from players who are moving up from the Jr. High team and the many players returning the team will be competitive next season.
