During a press conference earlier this week, Bishop John McGann, head of the Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, announced that his resignation had been accepted by the Vatican and that Bishop James McHugh, who had been serving as coadjutor for the past year, would assume the position.

Stars Shine in First Place Victory
Congratulations to the Hicksville Americans Soccer Club boys U-8 "A" tournament team, the Stars. The boys took first place at the 100% Soccer Holiday Tournament at the World Gym in Setauket, New York on Dec. 28. Given the name of the tournament, it is no surprise that the Stars gave 150 percent as they battled their way to the tournament title. The team played a total of four 25 minutes games.

Holy Family Wins Christmas Tournament
After winning the Notre Dame 2nd Annual Christmas Tournament, the Holy Family 8th grade basketball team might find itself off the list of teams competing in next year's tournament. That is because the team has participated in the first two tournaments and has won the championship on both occasions.
