Holy Family was able to get its season off to a fast start this weekend by pulling out a 45-41 victory over a strong St. Boniface team. By beating St. Boniface, Holy Family's 7th grade basketball team was able to improve its record to 2-0. Holy Family's victory over St. Boniface followed its opening weekend victory over St. Adian by the score of 59-50. In both of its victories Holy Family was led by the scoring and rebounding of Allan Haynes and Bobby McAuley. Allan scored 12 points in the St. Aidan game and 17 points in the St. Boniface game while Bobby scored 12 points in the St. Aidan game and nine points in the St. Boniface game. Also helping with the rebounding duties was James Robison, Mark Mondello and Danny Slater. Danny was also active in the scoring area with a total of 10 points over the two games.
Faced with a very good St. Boniface offense Holy Family needed to intensify its defensive play. Leading Holy Family's defensive surge was Mike Wasiluk and Josh Cuozzo with Josh also putting-up 12 points over the two games. Holy Family's ball handling duties were carried out by Mike DiMaria and Larry Buffalino with Larry adding 18 points over the two games. Holy Family's season is young but with the hard work the team has shown the coaches are looking for a successful season for the team.
