The ice skating season is now in full swing at the indoor rink at Cantiague park in Hicksville, Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gulotta has announced. The rink will provide daily sessions of recreational skating for Nassau County residents and their guests.

Morning sessions are offered Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. Afternoon sessions will be held seven days a week at 1 p.m., with additional 3:30 p.m. sessions offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, and beginning Dec. 5 on Sundays. The 3:30 p.m. session on Sundays is scheduled through Feb. 27. Evening sessions are offered on Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 9 p.m. Each public session is scheduled for two hours. It is recommended that all skaters ages 10 and under wear safety helmets.

Ice rink fees for each two hour session (or any portion thereof) for Nassau County residents with Leisure Passports are $4 per session for adults and $2 for children ages 4 through 17 years of age, senior citizens, physically challenged individuals, auxiliary police, volunteer firefighters, volunteer ambulance corps, and veterans. When accompanied by paying resident adult, children 3 and under will be admitted free at the discretion of the facility supervisor.

Leisure Passports are required for ages 13 and over. Guests will be admitted only when accompanied by a fee paying adult with a Leisure passport. Guest fees are $9 per session (or portion thereof) for adults and $4.50 for children. Skate rental is $3 per session, Leisure Passport holders may purchase special 20-coupon discount books for $30, realizing a savings of $10. The rink closes at 5:30 p.m. Christmas and New Year's Eve and is closed Christmas and New Year's Day.

For those planning a party, consider using the Party Room located at Cantiague Park for the nominal fee of $30. Group winter skating lesson sessions begin in January and spring sessions start in April. The lesson sessions are available through a lottery drawing scheduled for Dec. 9 and March 9. Applications may be picked up at the ice rink lobby.
