After a devastating defeat against Baldwin, the Comets came out strong against Oceanside last Saturday. Sean Curran, coming in after the loss of quarterback Shaun Lyons, passed for 33 yards, connecting with Matt Luyster for 18 yards. Curran tossed one that was caught by Rob Dwyer for 15 yards and a touchdown. Jeremy Kyrkostas had 10 runs for a total of 92 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown run and Chris Martinez had a 3-yard touchdown run.

The Comets defense held the Sailors to one touchdown, with Howie Sham getting a key interception when Oceanside was threatening inside the 5-yard line and then running it back 74 yards to the Oceanside 21-yard line. Joe Diffendale and Colin McGuire had nine tackles each and Bruce Moreno and Mark Colaizzo each had seven. Ryan Walker had six tackles, Rob Dwyer five, and Matt Doyle, four.

The Hicksville Comets next game is in Lawrence on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.

The JV Team had a tough loss against Oceanside with a score of 8-to-6.
