For 117 years the Knights of Columbus has been the right arm of the church, speaking out about life issues, and providing daily community service through many acts of charity. And since 1924, just a few blocks away from St. Ignatius Church on Heitz Place has been the Joseph Barry Council 2520.
From delivering Thanksgiving baskets to donating blood in April and October, Council 2520 has continuously served the Hicksville community with its various outreach programs. Each year, we plan an entire calendar of social events for adults and children to participate in, meet new friends and have fun. There are various sports that council members seasonally get active in. We have one of the best Squire programs in the state for boys between the ages of 10-17. For women 17 years and older we have a very vibrant Columbiette organization. And yes! We are a Pro-Life and Pro-Family organization.
If you are a catholic man 18 years or older, how about joining a Hicksville organization that is now in its 76th year of serving the church and the community?
In addition to what Joseph Barry has to offer, there are many fraternal benefits for a catholic man to take advantage of once he becomes a brother knight.
So on behalf of Joseph Barry Council, I invite you to come to our open house on Monday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. But for now I ask you "Would you like to become a member of the Knights of Columbus?"
